Bowflex M7 Max Trainer Review (2023 Update)

For a wide range of trainees, the Max Trainer M7 has 20 resistance levels. Depending on the resistance level, your lower body will receive an ultra-smooth version of the elliptical or stair-stepping exercise. Moving arm bars are twice as effective at toning your upper body as those found on elliptical trainers, and they will help you achieve this. However, the incredibly low impact design will help you feel energized rather than worn out.

The Max Trainer M7 is the most advanced version available. The list that follows explains how it differs from the others and can be of assistance. Additionally, ellipticals and treadmills are contrasted with Bowflex Max Trainers.

Pros of Bowflex M7 Max Trainer

The Max Trainer M7 stands out with additional training programs and other upgrades, though all Max Trainers are advised purchases. Here are specifics on its top qualities.

Zero Impact

A Max Trainer may allow for zero impact exercise. Your body maintains constant contact with the pedals thanks to the machine’s design; unlike a treadmill, you don’t run into it with every step. By doing so, you can avoid the joint pain that is frequently brought on by treadmill workouts or outdoor running.

Fast Calorie Burn

The M7 lets you burn calories more quickly than other cardio trainers do, in part due to the zero impact design and moving arm bars. With elliptical training, you can burn about 2.5 times as many calories! Treadmills and stair climbers are less effective at burning calories than the Max Trainer.

Upper Body Workout

The moving handles on Bowflex Max Trainers are roughly twice as effective as those on elliptical trainers. The arm bars on the M7 in particular have ergonomic grips of commercial grade.

Resistance

You can challenge yourself with the Bowflex M7’s 20 levels of resistance. 8 and 16 levels are available in other Max Trainers.

Preset Programs

The M7 has the most pre-programmed workouts of any Bowflex Max Trainer in addition to manual mode. The choices are Maximum 7 Minute Interval, Maximum 14 Minute Interval, Maximum 21 Minute Interval, Power Interval, Calorie Goal, and Steady Pace in one menu section. The program goals can automatically adapt to your training progress in a section called Performance Mode. The exercises on that list are Fat Burn, Calorie Burn, Stairs, Manual, and Fitness Test. In contrast, the Max Trainer M3 only offers the 14-minute workout and manual mode out of all the programs mentioned above. Eight programs and manual mode are available for the Max Trainer M6.

Motion Traxx Workouts

Four treadmill workouts are available to all Bowflex Max Trainer users through the Motion Traxx mobile app.

App Integration

Utilize a Bowflex app to easily track your statistics by having your workout data sent there automatically. This capability is absent from the M3.

Heart Rate Monitoring

Included with the purchase is a chest strap for wireless heart rate monitoring. With a contact grip system incorporated into the handlebars, you can also keep an eye on your heart rate. Only the M7 has wireless monitoring in comparison to the M3 and M6, which do not.

Premium Grips & Pedals

You will appreciate Bowflex’s expert attention to comfort from your toes to your fingertips. High-quality grips on the handlebars and pedals of the M7 are made of commercial-grade stainless steel. The series’ best features are these.

Four User Profiles

Four trainees are able to save their user profiles and receive personalized training objectives. Each of the other Max Trainers supports two profiles.

Extras

A water bottle holder and a media rack are features of the Max Trainer M7. Compared to the other models, it has a larger media area.

Compact

When compared to treadmills, Bowflex Max Trainers occupy less space. 46″L x 29.5″W is the size of the M7’s footprint. The machine has transport wheels and weighs 148 pounds.

Pros of Bowflex M7 Max Trainer

As a substitute for ellipticals and treadmills, the Bowflex Max Trainer M7 earns five stars. Even so, here are a few potential drawbacks:

Assembly

At least an hour is needed for assembly. About $250 of your bill is added for assembly. Perhaps the best option is to use one of Bowflex’s instructional videos to make assembly simpler.

Warranty/Price Combo

Bowflex Max Trainers come with shorter warranties than treadmills with comparable prices. The M7 has the longest overall warranty of the three models at three years.

Bowflex Max Trainer Cost & Comparison

The M7 is the one I have, but there are two other choices.

• M3: $999
• M5: $1599
• M7: $2199

All three models are compared on the Bowflex website so you can choose the one that will work best for you.

The Max Trainer, in my opinion, is a better option, even though the price ranges are essentially the same as those of other high-quality cardio machines.

Is the Bowflex Max Trainer Good for Beginners?

With 20 different resistance settings, the Bowflex Max Trainer M7 has something for everyone. Both beginners and experts can use it as long as you choose the resistance level that is suitable for your body.

Levels can be raised as you gain strength. You will therefore always be able to use it.

Remember, if you can’t finish in 14 minutes, don’t force yourself to. Just begin with a few minutes at a time and work your way up to the 14 minutes. Once you’ve mastered that, you can move on to trying various levels.

If the Max 14 Minute Interval program doesn’t immediately make you feel comfortable, you can also begin by using it in manual mode.

Conclusion: Ideal Family Exercise Equipment

Traditional cardio trainers can be replaced with the Bowflex Max Trainers. With a virtually zero impact design, they’re an exception to the rule of “No pain, no gain.” The Max Trainer M7 is ideal for experienced runners, people trying to avoid joint pain, parents looking for family exercise equipment, and pretty much anyone looking to burn a lot of calories quickly.

The M6 might be a good choice if the M7 is out of your price range.
